FAQ: MSC – Next Limit [XFlow] Partnership
This May, MSC Software entered into a strategic market development partnership with Next Limit Technologies for XFlow, an innovative Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solution.
What is XFlow?
XFlow is a powerful CFD technology that uses a proprietary particle-based, fully Lagrangian approach to handling traditionally complex CFD problems in engineering, design, science, and architecture with ease. XFlow provides the ability to simulate the flow of gases and liquids, heat and mass transfer, moving bodies, multiphase physics, acoustics and fluid structure interaction.
Where will MSC Sell and Support XFlow?
MSC will market, sell and distribute the XFlow product worldwide. XFlow is now a solution within the MSC product portfolio. With XFlow, MSC becomes the only company with a complete simulation portfolio with structures, CFD, multibody dynamics, and systems and controls.
When will MSC Sell XFlow?
Global MSC sales teams and select business partners will begin selling XFlow in June. Please contact your local MSC sales representative or office for further information or email us at xflow@mscsoftware.com.
How will customers benefit?
Customers will benefit from XFlow's unique features in the following ways:
- Improves solution efficiency - XFlow is a unique CFD software system that dramatically improves the 'solution quality vs. time- to-solution' trade-off.
- Reduces implementation costs - XFlow employs a proprietary particle-based approach to the Computational Fluid Dynamics which is extremely easy to set up and use, and which significantly reduces training and support costs.
- Reduces hardware requirements - XFlow's innovative approach allows complex problems to be solved on standard modern desktop computers reducing reliance on large clusters or HPC systems.
- Best-in-class technology - XFlow's advanced techniques easily handle traditionally complex problems such as aero-acoustics, moving parts, free surface flows and fluid-structure interaction.
Will MSC products integrate with XFlow?
XFlow will readily integrate with other products, and connectivity with MSC solutions is planned. Integration with MSC/MD Nastran, Marc, and Adams will enable coupling of fluids with structures and multibody dynamics. For example, in the case of Adams, XFlow's particle-based approach is very effective at handling moving boundaries and moving parts, so applications such as a full-vehicle maneuver in Adams with full aerodynamic and cross-wind effects will be a solution which only MSC can deliver.
