2006 VPD Conference - Technical Track

LEVERAGING MULTI-DISCIPLINE SOLUTIONS IN THE ENTERPRISE

Getting smart on technology best practices in a wide-range of industries. Over 70 expert presenters representing aerospace, automotive, bio-medical, civil engineering, defense, general machinery, and other industries, shared practical tips and techniques on using technology to drive product development, optimize product performance, and shorten the design-to-manufacture process. Attendees learned how to use detailed digital product models to simulate and verify every aspect of product performance, make and track critical design decisions, as well as communicate and coordinate product development activities. Presenters included Airbus, Ford Motor Company, General Dynamics, Goodyear, Mitsubishi, Samsung Electronics, and the U.S. Army. Sessions included:

Early Design Validation
Learn how to incorporate simulation early in the product development process in order to realize business benefits. Hear about implementation strategies that work and apply technical approaches to solving engineering problems.

Process Automation
Explore business and engineering cases for automation, and learn to strike the right balance between automating processes and maintaining user flexibility.

Advanced Simulation Applications
Investigate common simulation engineering problems, technical approaches to addressing them, and strategies to apply for future success. Areas to be covered include composites; structures; crash and safety; motion; thermal; and nonlinear.

Integrated Multi-Discipline Simulation
Find out how you can experience productivity gains by eliminating redundant effort with integrated, multi-discipline simulation. Couple simulations from various disciplines and tools, and eliminate data and model translations.

Enterprise Knowledge Management
Learn about implementing enterprise systems for data and process management-as well as the business and engineering motivators for doing so. We'll discuss IT impact, infrastructure needs, company culture, effect on employees, and potential benefits.
