(Newport Beach, California - June 30th, 2017) - MSC Software and VIRES today announced a reinforced commitment to supporting the open file formats and open source tools represented by the OpenDRIVE, OpenSCENARIO, and OpenCRG standards. These open standards have been broadly accepted by the simulation community and diligently enhanced in response to the needs of users and simulation vendors alike.

"I would like to emphasize that we will continue to support these open standards so that they remain accessible to all, vendor-neutral, free of charge, and non-proprietary" said Dominic Gallello, President & CEO of MSC Software. "We recognize the importance of these open standards to the simulation industry, and we have been a long-term beneficiary of the OpenCRG standard for representing road surfaces in our Adams product line. Leveraging open standards such as OpenDRIVE, OpenSCENARIO, and OpenCRG enable us to efficiently interoperate with a variety of tools and processes, which are critical to our customers."

"As we are now affiliated with a much larger company in MSC Software, the importance of our contributions to maintain and enhance OpenDRIVE, OpenSCENARIO, and OpenCRG have grown substantially." said Marius Dupuis, Managing Director of VIRES. "MSC is committed to VIRES to ensure we have the sufficient resources necessary to continue this critical work."

VIRES is a main contributor and partner in standardization projects for the automotive industry and helped to establish the de-facto standards OpenDRIVE, OpenCRG and - as of late - OpenSCENARIO. OpenDRIVE has laid the foundation for the standardization of Road Networks. OpenCRG established the standard of Road Surfaces. OpenSCENARIO will define the new standard for the definition of dynamic content. For additional information about VIRES products and services please visit:
