MSC.Software Helps Ajax Tocco Magnethermic Increase Enterprise Efficiency With SmarTeam PDM System
SANTA ANA, Calif. - September 24, 2002 - MSC.Software Corp. (NYSE: MNS), the leading global provider of simulation software, services and systems, today announced that Warren, Ohio-based Ajax Tocco Magnethermic, a subsidiary of Park Ohio (NASD: PKOH), has utilized a SmarTeam Product Data Management (PDM) system and integration services from MSC.Software.
SmarTeam, developed by SmarTeam Corporation, a member of the Dassault Systemes S.A. group of companies (NASDAQ: DASTY and Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), is a PDM system that enables businesses to gain improvements in product quality, reduce costs, expedite project turnaround, comply with industry standards and shorten time-to-market by making product-related information to be available to anyone in an organization who needs it. According to market research firm Daratech, the market for PDM systems is estimated at $1.7 billion in 2002 and is growing at an annual rate of 10%.

An 85-year old manufacturer of induction furnace systems used by industrial manufacturers, Ajax Tocco Magnethermic was attempting to update their business processes by making product information, including CAD drawings, part definitions, engineering analysis, bill of materials (BOM), change orders, process plans and all other product and engineering-related documents more accessible to people within their organization. After engaging MSC.Software, a process review was done to help resolve workflow issues and set up the data models to be used to populate the PDM system. Through project management and integration services, MSC.Software was able to help Ajax achieve 95% implementation of the SmarTeam PDM system at two company sites in four months.
