Santa Ana, CA - March 3, 2004 - MSC.Software Corp. (NYSE: MNS), the leading global provider of virtual product development (VPD) products including simulation software and services, today announced that Husqvarna, one of the leading manufacturers of outdoor power tools and products for forests, parks and gardens has chosen to extend their use of MSC.Software's VPD tools by adopting the MasterKey Licensing System. Having relied upon MSC.ADAMS for four years, the engineers at Husqvarna will broaden their simulation capabilities by taking advantage of the full breadth and depth of MSC.Software's portfolio within a flexible licensing system.
"Our MSC.MasterKey Licensing System is a valuable tool for organizations of any size, anywhere in the world to benefit from the depth and breadth of the MSC.Software product portfolio," says Frank Perna, chairman and chief executive officer of MSC.Software. "Our work with Husqvarna is an excellent example of what we are seeing in the market right now. Customers who may have used one or two of our products in the past, in this case, MSC.ADAMS, are looking to make additional investments but will only do so if they feel they are getting real returns on that investment. By providing virtually all of our products within a flexible licensing system, our customers can expand their use of VPD technologies and work with us to quantify and communicate their successes."
"The MSC.MasterKey License gives us the flexibility we need to try new kinds of simulations. It helps us to broadly test new products virtually and to improve already existing products. Our products become more reliable and we are able to get our products faster to market," said Dan Ericsson, Chief Engineer at Husqvarna.
Mikael Ganhammar, CAE Manager at Husqvarna adds: "We are now able to embrace new simulation methods we would not have included without this offering. We were always very satisfied with MSC.ADAMS - mainly using ADAMS/Flex for multi body dynamic analysis including flexible and rotating components - as well as with the excellent support of the engineers. Now we are looking forward to being able to include non- linear analysis with MSC.Marc, dynamic analysis within MSC.Nastran and other MSC.ADAMS modules such as ADAMS/Vibration to make our products even better."
The MSC.Software MasterKey license system (formerly the VDP Campus License System), gives engineers the possibility to choose from more then 250 market-leading software packages available today. With those software tools, engineers may assess the complete functional performance of their products, from strength and durability characteristics to motion and controls, vibration and acoustics, thermal effects, and more, without having to purchase individual product licenses. Tailored to the unique environment of every customer, the MSC.MasterKey License System maximizes productivity and engineering budgets by providing full-range simulation capabilities and flexible product management.
