TOKYO, Japan - December 6, 2006 - MSC.Software, (NASDAQ: MSCS), the leading global provider of enterprise simulation solutions including simulation software and services, today announced that Pioneer Display Products Corporation (Pioneer DPC), a leading manufacturer of digital entertainment products mainly focused on plasma displays, has purchased MSC.Software solutions for nonlinear structural analysis to enhance global productivity and quality.
Pioneer DPC selected Marc® to address large-scale analysis, to meet customer needs for higher reliability and reduce time-to-market by focusing on analysis which performs reliability testing using simulation, specifically fatigue analysis of highly nonlinear solder, a key for display products.
Marc is a component of MSC.Software's leading solver technology which can selectively combine and use versatile, broad libraries of analyses, materials, elements, and features. Also, it provides a rich set of features and flexibility that address static/dynamic nonlinear analysis which considers various nonlinear factors, thermal, and multi-physics as well as linear analysis. This enables manufacturers to optimize their products, assure improvement in product reliability, and reduce time-to-market.
"After few years of comparing multiple analysis tools, we selected MSC.Software because they are well-established in the industry and provide highly reliable analysis data," said Tetsuo Sugiyama, manager of the production engineering development section, display production engineering division at Pioneer DPC. "By analyzing the solder, we would like to improve the efficiency of design with zero prototypes and enhance our productivity to offer high quality, high reliability products in a short period of time. In order to realize this objective, we need MSC.Software's fine-tuned technical support which includes analysis training for simulation beginners to be able to perform advanced analysis. We are confident that with the use of Marc we will see productivity improvement."
Marc's non-linear capabilities are a part of MD Nastran, MSC.Software's enterprise class multidiscipline solution that provides simultaneous multidiscipline system level simulations to accurately represent real life scenarios. MD Nastran adds a powerful competitive advantage to product development processes that enables customers to innovate industry-leading products while trimming costs.
"I am very pleased that Pioneer DPC has recognized that MSC.Software delivers the "industry standard" for simulation of complex, nonlinear behavior," said Christopher St.John, president, MSC.Software Ltd. Japan. "Their careful evaluation of the accuracy of simulation of soldered joints provides yet another confirmation of the strength and depth of our solutions. Very importantly, they are looking beyond the technical solution to the business value of using simulation to shorten their product development cycle, while ensuring quality."
