MSC.Software and PROSTEP AG Partner to Accelerate Adoption of Simulation Data Management

Enterprise Simulation Leader to Utilize PROSTEP AG Products for Data Exchange between MSC Software's SimManager Enterprise and PLM Systems

SANTA ANA, Calif. - December 13, 2006 - MSC.Software (NASDAQ: MSCS), the leading global provider of enterprise simulation solutions including simulation software and services, today announced that the company has partnered with PROSTEP, the leading PLM product data integration specialist, to enable data exchange between PLM systems and simulation data management systems such as SimManager Enterprise.

PROSTEP's work in driving collaborative engineering has become an industry standard for the automotive and aerospace engineering fields," said Frank Kovacs, vice president, strategic business development, MSC.Software. "MSC.Software is committed to delivering solutions that enable companies to control, share and extend engineering data throughout the enterprise.  We look forward to working together with the PROSTEP community to advance worldwide interaction and design development."

SimManager Enterprise, one of the three platforms that comprise SimEnterprise, provides global product manufacturers with the ability to leverage their engineering processes throughout the enterprise to speed design and development. MSC Software will use the PROSTEP OpenPDM® application to create an adapter for its SimManager Enterprise solution. This link will help global organizations centralize data from disparate systems in order to more efficiently create, manage and re-use simulation data enterprise-wide as well as share it throughout the supply chain.

"We are pleased to partner with MSC.Software. They bring a wealth of simulation expertise and experience to the table," said Bernd Paetzold, CEO of PROSTEP. "As our company continues to develop collaborative solutions to address the pressing needs of global manufacturing businesses, we welcome companies like MSC.Software who understand how access to product design data across an enterprise is critical to quality product delivery."

The SOA architecture of OpenPDM® and SimManager Enterprise will also allow enterprises to build PLM workflows using the IBM WebSphere Process Server that include CAE assessments. Manufacturers can publish simulation processes and templates into SimManager Enterprise and expose it to the enterprise through the SOA framework.  For instance, a manufacturer will be able to create an automated workflow that triggers an assessment based on a change request from the PDM system, by sharing data between systems, the designer can receive immediate notification of any product geometry changes, ensuring assessments are done with the latest product information regardless of location.

"This partnership between MSC.Software and PROSTEP provides our clients the ability to improve their product design and analysis capabilities, with a flexible integration based on SOA," said Chae An, director, Industrial Sector Solutions, IBM. "We are very pleased to be partnering with industry leaders, MSC.Software and PROSTEP, working together to enable integrated PLM processes and leveraging IBM's SOA technologies."
