SimAcademy Webinar Archive: Analysis Manager Installation and Configuration Overview
The Analysis Manager provides interface to submit, monitor and manage analysis jobs on local and remote networked systems. MSC Analysis Manager is a client-server based job-submission software package for unix/linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems. It supports MSC solvers, ABAQUS and General applications.
SimAcademy Webinar Archive: Solution Download Center and MSC Support Site - An Overview
Solution Download Centre or SDC is Electronic delivery portal for various MSC Products. This portal provides access to MSC Product installers and patches. Also, users can access product related documents and can order Media through Nextra site. MSC Support site also known as SimCompanion and this Portal gives a MSC user access to MSC support, where they can submit and manage support cases as well as can access knowledgebase articles/Product documentations.
SimAcademy Webinar Archive: Improved Performance Via BPOOL
MSC Nastran is capable of very large problems due to its state of the art numerical methods. The BPOOL capability is one such example. BPOOL improves the elapse time performance by improving CPU utilization with this I/O caching method. This short webinar will show the performance improvements of large Nastran runs due to BPOOL.
SimAcademy Webinar Archive: Key Features and Demos in Laminate Modeler
Laminate modeler is an add-on to core Patran which helps in design, analysis and analogous manufacturing of laminated composite structures. It makes data management (creation and modification) of the composite layup and plies much easier and also helps visualizing the plies.
SimAcademy Webinar Archive: A Framework for Adams/View Customization With Diverse Application Examples
Adams/View is a very powerful modelling tool allowing for a deep level of model customization and parameterization. For this, the Adams/View command language can be used to define a high level of effective modelling practice. In this presentation, Chris will discuss how this functionality has been used by him to define a layer of macro functionality to support creation and management of parameterized sub-models and/or components stored in dedicated toolkits or repositories of similar application areas.
SimAcademy Webinar Archive: MSC Nastran Exterior Acoustics
MSC Nastran has been a primary tool for performing multi-disciplinary analysis including acoustics analysis since originating in 1973. Exterior acoustics simulation capability is important for a lot of sound propagation applications, and it is different from interior acoustics simulation in essence.
SimAcademy Webinar Archive: Marc/Mentat Model Navigator
The new Model Navigator in Mentat 2013.1 provides the user the option to easily investigate the contents of a model. The Model Navigator not only effectively provides a tree representation of the model, it also allows one to quickly move to different menus. It allows the user to quickly view the contents and to determine the completeness of the model. All menus, which can be accessed from within the Main Menu, can also be accessed from within the Model Navigator.
SimAcademy Webinar Archive: Bar/Beam Modeling Using Patran/MSC Nastran
Beam elements have been available in MSC Nastran for many versions. To attain proper representation of the structural stiffness it is important to model and orient the beams correctly with respect to the rest the structure. This presentation will highlight how to verify and assure that the beam modeling is done correctly by visual verification of the offset and cross section. Highlight important differences among beam and bar elements in MSC Nastran. Patran demonstration will be presented highlighting following topics and MSC Nastran output interpretation to address some of commonly asked questions with beam modeling.
SimAcademy Webinar Archive: Adams - A Quick Introduction to Adams/Chassis
This SimAcademy session will discuss how to setup Adams/Chassis and will focus on Adams philosophy of Build, Test, Review and Improve mode. An example vehicle available with Adams installation will then be solved to demonstrate how Adams/Chassis is used for vehicle dynamics simulation.
SimAcademy Webinar Archive: Patran Utilities - User Convenience at Hand
There are various Utilities available in Patran. As the name “Utilities” suggests, they are extremely useful and convenient in finding answers to many simple questions, which otherwise, may not be obvious. The entire Utilities Menu has been developed over the years as an “addition” to core Patran capabilities, considering the requirements of some customers.
SimAcademy Webinar Archive: Adams/Driveline
This SimAcademy session will discuss what Adams/Driveline is and what its intended uses are, provide a brief overview of the various driveline components made available by the product, and discuss the Driveline specific Benchtest mode as well as using Driveline models in Adams/Car analysis.
SimAcademy Webinar Archive: Adaptive Time Stepping Procedure in Implicit Nonlinear Analysis
Load (time) stepping procedure is important in nonlinear analysis. The NLSTEP bulk data provides a unified load stepping scheme that replaces existing options entries such as NLPARM, TSTEPNL, NLPCI, and NLADAPT. This option can be used for statics and dynamics, fixed and adaptive load stepping, definition of convergence criteria and other options for mechanical, thermal and coupled analysis. In MSC Nastran 2012, NLSTEP option is extended with a new keyword that automatically sets up the entries for the time stepping adjustment and convergence tolerance. This makes it possible to use smart default based on users’ judgment of the nonlinearity of the model to be analyzed.
SimAcademy Webinar Archive: Introduction and Overview of MSC Nastran Embedded Fatigue
Fatigue life analysis of mechanical systems has historically been performed as a post processing operation, gathering and entering the three fundamental inputs of finite element stresses, load time histories and fatigue material properties (S-N curves) into a separate and distinct fatigue solver. MSC Nastran 2013 introduces a fundamental paradigm shift in this logic through a direct integration of fatigue life solutions into the finite element solver. This new technology is entitled Nastran Embedded Fatigue, or NEF for short.
SimAcademy Webinar Archive: Failure Analysis of Composite Structures
MSC Nastran and Marc provide composite failure technology to evaluate the ultimate capacity of composite structures by progressively failing the plies and to simulate composite delamination, debonding and crack propagation. This presentation briefly review existing methods for composite failure analysis such as progressive failure analysis, delamination based on stress criterion and cohesive interface, and VCCT crack propagation by means of splitting element, global remeshing and breaking glued contact, followed by more detailed discussion and demo of new failure analysis features.
SimAcademy Webinar Archive: Academic - Getting Started Building Models in Adams/View
Adams/View is a very capable pre- and post-processor for the underlying Adams/Solver simulation engine. New Adams users need to be familiar with the building blocks used to create an Adams model, the Adams nomenclature and the layout/philosophy of Adams/View.
