In case of trouble in downloading, please send an e-mail to

with your name, company name & address, telephone number 
and the version you were trying to download.

The file documentation.crp (Unix) and documentation.zip (NT)
contains the files:
      bugfixlist_marc         - List of Marc fixes included in 2003r2
      bugfixlist_mentat       - List of Mentat fixes included in 2003r2
      doc_changes_2003r2.pdf  - Changes to the Marc documentation Volumes A-E.

You will need the password to extract these files. See item 1 below for
instructions on how to decrypt documentation.crp on Unix systems.

UNIX Versions of update files:

Please follow the steps below for installing the update tar files and
updating the version :


1.  Uncrypt the downloaded tar file using the password provided, i.e.

      crypt pw < filename.crp > filename.tar

      where    pw = password obtained from MSC
               filename.crp = the downloaded file (NOTE : type the filename within "<>")
               filename.tar = a temporary tar file

2.  Copy the uncrypted Marc tar file to your marc2003 directory. This
    way it will create a subdirectory named marc2003_updates_r2 under 
    the marc2003 directory when you extract the files.

    Copy the uncrypted Mentat tar file to your mentat2003 directory. This
    way it will create a subdirectory named mentat2003_updates_r2 under 
    the mentat2003 directory when you extract the files.

3.  Untar the update tar file:
      tar xvf filename.tar

    This will extract the following files, depending upon whether you
    are installing the Marc or Mentat update:

       README          file describing installation directions
       INSTALL         shell script for installing the update
       UNINSTALL       shell script for restoring the updated version to the
                       original version
       BUGFIXES_LIST   list of defects fixed in the MSC.Marc 2003 or
                       or MSC.Mentat 2003 release
       a****.k03       compressed tar file containing the Marc updates
       g****.k03       compressed tar file containing the Mentat updates



4.  Run the installation script by cd'ing to the marc2003_updates_r2 or
    mentat2003_updates_r2 directory and run the installation script INSTALL.
    Please refer to the README file in the marc2003_updates_r2
    directory or mentat2003_updates_r2 for installation instructions, and the
    BUGFIXES_LIST file for a list of fixes. 


Notes:
        1) On Linux and AIX, you will need to download the crypt program
           from:
                ftp.mscsoftware.com/pub/msc-products/marc

           Download the tar file for your system:

              IBM      decrypt_ibm.tar
              Linux    decrypt_linux.tar 

           Extract the crypt program using "tar xvf decrypt_linux.tar" and
           use it to decrypt the ".crp" files.

        2) On AIX, crypt is on the DES CD (usually not installed by default).
           You can also use the crypt utility described above.

        3) On 64bit Solaris or 64bit Linux you will need to modify the
           setting for LD_LIBRARY_PATH in the marc2003/tools/run_marc script
           (around line 153). It should be set as:

               LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$DIR/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$DIR/lib/lib_shared


NT Versions of update files:

Please follow the steps below for installing the update files and
updating the version:

1.  The file for the Windows NT/2000/XP update contains both the Marc and
    Mentat updates. Run the downloaded file. You will be prompted to enter
    the password provided to you by your MSC.Software Sales representative.

2.  When asked for the installation directory, direct it to the 'parent'
    directory of the Marc 2003 installation. For example, if you installed
    the product in a directory named C:\MSC, then that is the directory
    you should specify.

3.  After the installation is complete, the update script install_2003r2.bat 
    in the marc2003\2003r2\tools directory will be run automatically which 
    will update your Marc 2003 version to the r2 version.

    If you also selected the Mentat 2003r2 update, the update script install_2003r2.bat 
    in the mentat2003\2003r2\bin directory will be run automatically which will
    update your Mentat 2003 version to the r2 version.

    The original versions are saved.

    Please refer to the marc2003\2003r2\bugfixes_2003r2 file and the
    mentat2003\2003r2\bugfixes_2003r2 for a list of fixes.

    The file marc2003\2003r2\readme.txt contains more detailed information
    regarding the installation and uninstallation of the 2003r2 update.
