V2005 Patch for MSC.Fatigue/Analysis Manager Introduction: This document contains: 1) a description of the contents of the patch, 2) the issues fixed with the patch, 3) instructions on installing the patch on Unix/Linux machines. The same patch can be used for installations based on Patran or Standalone Fatigue. Description: These files are being posted on the web for all platforms for both the MSC.Fatigue for Patran and Standalone installs, in order to resolve the following issues in MSC.Fatigue V2005: 1. The version of Analysis Manager on the MSC.Patran 2005 CD does not contain the FatMgr executable needed to allow Analysis Manager to work with MSC.Fatigue 2005. This patch contains the following: Libraries -- none Executables -- $P3_HOME/p3manager_files/bin/HP700/FatMgr, $P3_HOME/p3manager_files/bin/HPIPF/FatMgr, $P3_HOME/p3manager_files/bin/LX86/FatMgr, $P3_HOME/p3manager_files/bin/RS6K/FatMgr, $P3_HOME/p3manager_files/bin/SGI5/FatMgr, $P3_HOME/p3manager_files/bin/SUNS/FatMgr, $P3_HOME/p3manager_files/bin/WINNT/FatMgr.exe Shared libraries -- none Instructions for Loading the Update: The ISO image contains the necessary files for patching both UNIX/Linux MSC.Fatigue/ Analysis Manager V2005 installations. For Unix/Linux systems, follow the directions given below: Unix/Linux Systems: Installation of the patch for Unix/Linux systems requires the following steps: 1) download the ISO image from the e-com web site, 2) create a CD from the ISO image, 3) mount the CD, 4) run "mscsetup" in the temporary directory. These steps are detailed below. As the installation script runs, enter the commands as outlined below. Note that the installation process may be halted at any time by entering "X" at any of the prompts. Accept default values by pressing the enter-key. "y" or enter-key to accept default (to continue with the setup procedure) "1" or enter-key (to install from the CD-ROM). This is ok even though there is no CD-ROM. enter-key (to use /CDROM location for CD-ROM mount point) "y" or enter-key (to confirm CD-ROM mount point) pathname where: pathname=the location where MSC.Patran 2005 has been installed. Note that the directory will contain the sub-directories bin/, p3manager_files/, etc. (Note that if an installation of MSC.Patran is not found, the install script will issue a warning. If this occurs, you should quit the installation and determine the correct location of the MSC.Patran installation.) "y" or enter-key (to confirm use of "pathname") "1" or enter-key (to install perform the standard installation; i.e., MSC.Fatigue/ Analysis Manager update) "n" (no contract amendment is needed) "y" (to begin the installation) * The installation process should now finish normally. Notes: * Note that the installation process may be halted at any time by entering "X" at any of the prompts. * The installation script will allow a user to enter an erroneous path for the MSC.Patran 2005 installation directory, and if the path does not exist a new path may be created if so directed by the user. However, since an installation of MSC.Patran Manager is not found in this directory, a warning will be issued and the user will be advised to halt the installation process. If this occurs, the mscsetup user should delete the erroneous path if created. * Finally, note that the installation location for the unix/linux patch is the MSC.Patran 2005 directory. This should not be confused with the MSC.Analysis_Manager\2005r2 directory, which is the patch location for Windows users.
