MSC.EASY5 2005 r1.3 Update

Service Pack 3

This service pack is an update to the 2005 R1 release, but it will be installed as a separate, new installation.   The Service Pack contains all files normally included in a standard installation of MSC.EASY5 2005 - for simplicity sake - allowing an installation to be performed by simply downloading the appropriate platform-appropriate installation files (and following the instructions below).  After installation of the files, the release, shortcuts, and executable files will be uniquely identified as release "2005 r1.3" and version "8.0.6", as seen in the Help > About dialog, as shown below.

Note:  if you already have a version of MSC.EASY5 2005 R1.3 installed nothing more needs to be done.

This service pack (version 8.0.6, MSC.EASY5 2005 R1.3) has had all regression and QA testing performed.

We recommend that all users utilize and install this service pack, which contains numerous bug-fixes.

The Service Pack files do not contain the following components found on the MSC.EASY5 2005 R1 CD:

• Win32 Adobe Reader 7.0
• Win32 GNU/GCC Compiler Suite
• Win32 MSC.Licensing Software
• Win32 DemoShield Top-Level Installer

Windows (Windows 2000, Windows XP) Download:

Note:  this service pack will install as a separate version of MSC.EASY5 named "2005 r1.3".  Existing versions of MSC.EASY5 can remain on your computer, if you want.

1. Download the Windows self-extracting executable, file easy5_2005r1_sp3_win32.exe.  It is about 87 MB.
2. Download and save the Windows installation notes, file win_install.pdf.  These contain instructions to follow in Steps 3, and additional details.
3. To preserve disk space, remove the existing MSC.EASY5 2005 R1 (or SP1, SP2) software using the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.  However, you may leave earlier versions installed, if you wish.
4. Run the self-extracting executable on the computer you wish to install this version of MSC.EASY5 on.
5. After successfully installing MSC.EASY5 2005 R1.3 (8.0.6), you may delete the downloaded installation image.

Unix Download:

1. Download and save the Unix installation script, file unixinst, and save it to a directory of your choosing (preferably, on the platform you want to install the software on).
2. Download the common files compressed tar file, file COMMON.Z, and save it to same directory.  This file is about 59 MB in size.
3. Select the appropriate platform-specific download file below, and save it to same directory.

4. Download and save the Unix installation notes, file unix_install.pdf.  These contain instructions to follow in Steps 6-7.
5. Navigate to the installation directory (on the target platform), and execute the installation script file by issuing the following commands at a shell prompt:
   
   cd installdir
   ./unixinst
   
   
6. When prompted, select option 1 "Install MSC.EASY5 software (default)".
7. Follow the installation instructions (per prompts).
8. Once you have successfully completed the installation, you can delete the downloaded files (.Z files).
