LAPI update to address various MSC_LICENSE_DISCRETE issues
Description
If you are not using MSC_LICENSE_DISCRETE, this download is not necessary. If you are using MSC_LICENSE_DISCRETE, but are not seeing any strange licensing issues, this download may not be necessary.
DISCRETE processing is part of LAPI (Licensing API), and potentially affects all MSC applications (although some products may not be well suited to its use). Historically DISCRETE has been most used by Nastran users, although there are other users also that have mixed license setups and use DISCRETE. The primary issue for which this update was made involved Nastran Dynamics.
Also note that R3/2008 software releases will already contain this updated LAPI library. This really only has meaning to 2006/2007 applications.
Installation
Installation is the same on each platform:
- Make a backup of the current licensing library:
Unix: cp liblapi.so liblapi-save.so
HP-UX PA: cp liblapi.sl liblapi-save.sl
Windows: copy lapi.dll lapi-save.dll
- Copy the appropriate update library into the same location as the original library.
- Run a test to verify that basic license operations are working.
If not, create a Service Request and send the captured error(s):
http://support.mscsoftware.com/servicerequest/
Then go back to the original library that was saved in step 1.
