MSC.Fatigue 8.0 Translator
- PAT3FAT Update for MSC.Patran 8.5
Description
This PAT3FAT executable is necessary
to run MSC.Fatigue 8.0 with MSC.Patran 8.5 plus it fixes the following problem(s):
1. Incorrect averaging
of stress results. This manifests itself when results only exist
on a portion of the model or the model consists of a variety of element
types yet the group chosen is for only a certain type of element.
In some cases the work around was to set the averaging method to Group
instead of Global in the General Setup Parameters. For other circumstances,
there was no workaround.
Installation
To allow MSC.Fatigue 8.0 to
run properly with MSC.Patran 8.5, make sure you have done the following:
1. Install MSC.Patran
8.5 following the normal installation procedures. Make note of the
actual installation directory, e.g., /msc/patran85 or c:\msc\patran85.
2. Install MSC.Fatigue
8.0 following normal procedures. Make sure that you specify the
installation directory to be the same as that for MSC.Patran 8.5, e.g.,
/msc/patran85 or c:\msc\patran85. Also be sure that you have selected
the option to install MSC.Fatigue with an existing MSC.Patran installation
- not the "Stand Alone" option!
3. Copy the correct compressed
tar or zip file to your "<P3_HOME>" directory depending on the
platform of interest. (i.e. --> c:\msc\patran80)
4. For UNIX, gunzip the file
and untar it. For example:
gunzip pat3fat85_sgi.tar.gz
tar xvf pat3fat85_sgi.tar
5. For NT, unzip the file into
the installation directory.
This operation will replace the incompatible PAT3FAT executable with the
compatible one.
