Reconnecting to a Material in Subsequent Sessions
A reference to each material imported to Patran is stored in the Patran database, which is useful in the following situations:
To re-import data at a later date, as when the MSC Mvision Materials Databases are updated. This ensures providing the most up-to-date material property data from the MSC Mvision Databank.
To review additional properties associated with the material for use in other applications, reports, etc.
The name-value pairs associated with a material and stored in the Patran database for the purpose of reconnection, are those identified in the MSC EMV IC global configuration file (MscIntegratedClient.properties). They can be modified by the MSC EMV IC Administrator.
To reconnect to an existing material during a later session, activate the EMV-Patran Integration form by picking “Select Materials...: from the EMV menu in the main toolbar. Select “Update” from the Action menu to display a list of existing materials in the Patran database.
Select a material to be updated from the Existing Materials list box and click OK. If the material is located, the reconnect proceeds. Login as required (see Logging into Patran Materials Enterprise, 58). Dismiss the Disclaimer by pressing OK. The selected material and all current associated property data is displayed in the Material Frame.Click OK to import the updated property data to Patran. Click Cancel to return to the Material Browser and select another material. See Selecting Materials in the Material Browser Frame, 60.
If no material was found, it usually indicates that the material has changed or was removed from the MSC Mvision Databank.
