All About U
Get an overview of MSC's new Global University Program
On March 5, 2007, MSC issued a press release about its new Global University Program designed to (1) help engineering students learn better and get lucrative jobs; (2) help faculty members enliven their teaching activities by complementing theory & engineering principles with the same leading-edge simulation software from MSC that is used in industry; and (3) help companies in industry find and hire the engineers they need to "simulate to innovate".
Access useful product information & materials from MSC's University website

Discover what you can do with each product included in MSC's University Bundles
We are in the process of creating web pages to help you become familiar with and make better use of each product in MSC's University Bundles, for instance MD Nastran & Patran, Marc, Adams, and Adams/Car.
Learn how to use MSC products via step-by-step tutorials and examples
We are continually adding more files to our Example Libraries in our online Knowledge Base (KB)* for each of the products in our University Bundles. Visit our MD Nastran & Patran Examples Library, our Marc & Patran Examples Library, or our Adams Examples Library. We also have several Examples for Adams/Car.
Obtain help on a particular MSC product
There are three primary ways by which you can receive help over and above MSC's online documentation:
-
Visit MSC's Support web page. If you are MSC's "Designated Contact (DC) for Teaching" or "Designated Contact (DC) for IT issues", you may contact MSC's Technical Support group directly (provided your standard maintenance & support [M&S] contract is up-to-date). MSC DCs must be full-time staff. If you are not an MSC DC, find the persons at your school who are and ask them for help.
-
Search MSC's online Knowledge Base (KB) * that contains thousands of articles written by MSC technical staff to address frequently asked questions and known issues.
-
Participate in MSC's University Discussion Forums * -- available as part of MSC's VPD Community designed to enable and encourage collaborative virtual product development around the world. (Note: Questions and answers posted here are from the MSC user community and are not guaranteed accurate by MSC technical staff.)
*To access our KB and forums, you will need to login using your own account which you create one time based on your email address and desired password.
Obtain formal training on a particular MSC product
"MSC DCs for Teaching" as well as other faculty and students are eligible to attend MSC's commercial training courses at significantly discounted rates – check with your local MSC office for details and here for MSC training course listings in your country.
Tell us about your use of MSC software and be eligible to win an iPod!
Describe how you use MSC software and enter your story in our MSC University Simulation Contest to be eligible to win an iPod if your story is the most compelling. The MSC University Success Stories that have already been submitted allow you to see some of the innovative work that other schools around the world are doing with MSC software.
The Q4-2006 University Simulation Contest Winner was Paul Garcia at the University of Kansas! Visit our U website to read the complete story of his Jayhawk Motorsports team's use of MSC software.
Use MSC software to gain an edge in competitions like SAE's Formula, Baja, Solar Car, or Challenge X events; the DARPA Grand Challenge; or AIAA's Design/Build/Fly event
MSC's Adams, Patran, and MD Nastran products can be particularly valuable for completing the Design Reports associated with vehicle and aircraft engineering projects and student competitions. Read about MSC's support for some of these special programs. To access the special Adams/Car templates that MSC provides for free to facilitate suspension design and full-vehicle dynamics simulations on Formula and Baja cars, visit the MSC University web page for Adams/Car.
Find great employment opportunities based on your experience with MSC software
World-class companies worldwide are looking to hire talented engineering students who are well-versed in the use of MSC's simulation software for virtual product development work. The Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) www.natc-ht.com is one such company. They hire students year-round as part of their co-op program and are often on the lookout to hire students after graduation. In particular, they are interested in students who can use Adams or MD Nastran & Patran to perform suspension optimization, vehicle control, dynamic simulations, and structural/durability analyses. If you are interested in a co-op position with NATC, email your resume to Mary Hitz at mhitz@natc-ht.com and be sure to call her attention to your experience with MSC software.
Request additional information or submit feedback about the MSC University Program
We invite you to request information not available on the MSC University website (especially related to University pricing) or to simply provide feedback to us regarding what is helpful or needs improvement.
