Temperatures generated by fluid flow play a significant role in structural applications. The temperature distribution will generate thermal stresses which should be accounted for to get realistic results. It is assumed in this example that the deformation caused by a fluid flow will be very small and this deformation will not affect the flow itself, so pressure is not used. The temperature distribution from fluid flow is considered on the structural mesh. After the temperature field is solved on the scFlow polyhedral mesh, this temperature data is mapped onto the structural Hex mesh using the scConverter tool. The data is then brought into Patran to setup the SOL 400 job with the temperature conditions along with structural boundary conditions.
