Digital Engineering: Adams Simulation Saves Millions by Replacing Physical Testing in Aircraft Certification
SimAcademy Webinar Archive: Nastran Contact Analysis - New Features and Tips
The Nastran contact capability in SOL 400 has been widely used by structural analysts in the last few years. The feedback from these users – what’s good, what’s bad, and what’s painful - has helped MSC to improve and mature this capability. This is demonstrated in the latest two releases, Nastran 2014 and 2016, which introduced a number of new contact features and enhancements based on user feedback.

SimAcademy Webinar Archive: Multi-Stage Simulation and PRE STATE Option in Marc
In many cases, it is necessary to analyze a nonlinear process in several stages. Each stage may involve different contact bodies and boundary conditions, but history data such as temperatures, displacements, stresses and strains have to be carried over for contact bodies to be passed from one stage to another. The pre state option is one of two methods available to transfer data from one analysis to another for multi-stage simulations. It is designed to read data from a Marc results file and to use the data as initial conditions in the new analysis. In a contact analysis, it allows the selection of contact bodies to easily apply the data to parts of the current model.
SimAcademy Webinar: Node to Segment and Segment to Segment Contact in Marc
Simulating many physical problems requires the ability to model the contact phenomena. This includes analysis of interference fits, rubber seals, tires, crash, and manufacturing processes among others. The analysis of contact behavior is complex because of the requirement to accurately track the motion of multiple geometric bodies, and the motion due to the interaction of these bodies after contact occurs.
SimAcademy Webinar Archive: Design Optimization Using MSC Nastran Embedded Fatigue
In real world, fatigue accounts for more than 60% of failure. The phenomenon has been identified almost 165 years ago; but still not fully understood. However several practices have been invented over the years to predict the fatigue life. Today it is recognized that fatigue failures can’t be avoided thoroughly, nonetheless provision can be taken at least to reduce the chances of fatigue failure.
