The growth and advancement of many industrial processes have led to improvements in the design and efficiency of valve and pumping equipment, and mainly for centrifugal pumps. These are frequently used in water treatment, manufacturing plants, food processing, sewage, chemical, and petroleum industries for handling low viscous fluids. Further, valves are also extensively used in propulsion systems. With such a variety of applications, it is necessary to have a feasible design that handles complex flow phenomena, including cavitation issues, as early as possible in the design process to reduce testing and unfavorable design choices.

CFD, therefore, plays a crucial role in assessing product performance early in the design phase. The efficiency of electronic components and the product life of the devices are dependant on the heating and the ability to control the temperature through sophisticated and intelligent cooling mechanisms. With the help of CFD simulation tools, an engineer can locate hot spots and quickly modify the design or reposition components, change fans, replace heat sinks or add vents, etc. to enhance the product design.
