NEWPORT BEACH, CA (January 10, 2019) – VIRES, an MSC Software Company, will participate as one of the sponsors for next year's Carolo Cup in Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany, which will take place on February 4th and 5th, 2019. The Carolo Cup is a student competition that provides university teams with a platform for the design and implementation of small-scale autonomous cars. The main challenge is to implement cutting-edge algorithmic solutions for vehicle control and environment perception, based on a realistic application scenario. During the competition, several driving tasks have to be executed as fast and precisely as possible.

The Carolo Cup 2019 is going to host more than 20 teams from around the world competing over two days to solve autonomous driving tasks. "We are extremely thrilled to officially sponsor the Carolo Cup 2019," said Marius Dupuis, Managing Director of VIRES Simulationstechnologie GmbH. "This competition is a great platform for future autonomous-driving engineers to solve challenging self-driving scenarios; and for the participants, with only the cars scaled down, and not the features they have to implement, for autonomous driving generally."

This well-established competition is hosted by Braunschweig University of Technology in Germany, which has been a long-time partner of VIRES and has been using VIRES’s Virtual Test Drive (VTD) software in their ADAS/Autonomous driving projects. Marius Dupuis will be a member of the competition jury.

Founded in 1996 and based in Bad Aibling, Germany, VIRES has evolved from being a mere Services company for 3d-content in the early days to a full-scale Product provider with attached Services. The key product is the tool-suite "VIRES Virtual Test Drive (VTD)" around which a whole range of additional tools and services is centered. VIRES is a main contributor and partner in standardization projects for the automotive industry generally, and helped to establish the de-facto standards OpenDRIVE, OpenCRG and – as more recently – OpenSCENARIO. OpenDRIVE has laid the foundation for the standardization of Road Networks. OpenCRG established the standard of Road Surfaces. OpenSCENARIO will define the new standard for the definition of dynamic content. For additional information about VIRES products and services please visit:
