RESEARCH GOALS: To develop a modern and environmentally friendly technology for net-shape plating of axisymmetric metallic parts using rotary swaging.
MSC RESEARCH ASSIST AWARD: Mr. Schiopu and The "Georghe Asachi" Technical University of Iasi are using Marc to analyze and optimize process simulation of nonlinear characteristics: materials behavior, geometry and contact.

Bio: Vasile Schiopu earned his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Machinery Manufacturing Technology, from “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi in Romania. Mr. Schiopu has extensive experience as a research and design engineer in the field of R&D for manufacturing technology and machines design. He has authored two patents and several papers that have been presented in scientific journals and international conferences.
Mr. Schiopu is currently working as a Project Manager and working on a doctoral research project with Materials Science and Engineering Faculty from Gheorghe Asache Technical Univerisity. He interests include new metal forming processes (high speed and incremental forming), FEA and data acquisition for specific application of these processes.
