MSC RESEARCH: Dr. Callanan and The University of Edinburgh have been awarded Marc for their research of extracellular matrix materials for the improvement of stent performance.

BIO: Dr. Callanan graduated with an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Limerick in 2002, and completed his PhD at the University of Limerick in 2009. Dr. Callanan worked as a Post Doc at the University of Limerick until 2010 when he was awarded an IRCSET-Marie Curie Research Fellowship providing him the opportunity to spend time at Imperial College London and the National University Ireland Galway working on cartilage and bone tissue engineering (2010-2012).

Dr. Callanan is currently a prestigious Chancellor's Fellow in the School of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh since early 2013. Dr. Callanan has also co-authored in excess of 30 peer-reviewed journal papers in the bioengineering field. His current interests include finite element modeling, computational fluid dynamics, biomechanics, bioreactor design and tissue engineering in the field of cardiovascular and osteoarthritis research.
