MSC.Software Gives Engineers World's Largest Collection Of Materials Property Data With MSC.DataMart

Web-Based Materials Libraries Help Engineers Reduce Design Time And Eliminate Time-Consuming Manual Searches

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Oct. 1, 2002 - MSC.Software Corp. (NYSE: MNS), the leading global provider of simulation software, services and systems, today announced the full availability of the MSC.DataMart.  The MSC.DataMart features the world's largest collection of technical materials information in a consistent electronic format, providing an up-to-date, comprehensive and easily searchable library for engineers needing materials information for product design and analysis.

"The MSC.DataMart is an excellent way for companies to increase the efficiency and quality of their design process by spending more time being engineers and less time searching through disparate materials books and comparing materials information," said Frank Perna, chairman and chief executive officer of MSC.Software.  "The MSC.Software team is working hard to find incremental revenue opportunities within existing key accounts and we are continually expanding and broadening our product offering to turn those opportunities into revenue."

The materials data offered on the MSC.DataMart is a product of MSC.Software's partnerships with the world's leading materials authorities, including Battelle, Materials Sciences Corp., University of Dayton Research Institute, JAHM Software Inc., ASM International, William Andrews Inc., Penton Publishing and Information Handling Services Inc. among others.  In addition to providing an easy-to use materials database, the MSC.DataMart provides engineers the ability to retrieve and manipulate all data formats including those stored as graphics, matrices and images and to export data directly to computer-aided engineering applications such as MSC.Nastran, Ansys, Abaqus and Cosmos.

This the first time that the entire scope of materials information amassed by MSC.Software and its partners has been made available via the Internet.  The MSC.DataMart is powered by the MSC.Mvision materials database technology and toolset, enabling engineers to query, compare, evaluate, and analyze a large number of materials alternatives via a standard Web browser.

The DataMart is currently available via a promotional subscription offer.  For more information on the promotional offer and MSC.DataMart, please visit www.mscdatamart.com.
