MSC.Software Announces Availability of MSC.visualNastran for Windows 2003
SANTA ANA, Calif. - September 9, 2003 - MSC.Software Corp. (NYSE: MNS), the leading global provider of virtual product development (VPD) products, including simulation software and services, today announced the availability of MSC.visualNastran for Windows 2003. MSC.visualNastran for Windows (MSC.vN4W) combines the power of MSC.Nastran with the ease-of-use of a Windows-based graphical user interface for generating models and visualizing simulation results.

MSC.vN4W employs advanced computational techniques, along with access to computer-aided design (CAD) geometry, enabling customers to verify designs and reduce physical prototyping. The state-of-the-art solution modules and new geometric modeling capabilities shorten the design cycle of products, lowering costs, and improving product quality.
Several significant enhancements aimed at increasing user productivity have been implemented in MSC.vN4W 2003. Examples include:
- Nonlinear + (Plus) Simulation - A new fully integrated FEA capability for the analysis of 3D contact and nonlinear problems, based upon MSC.Marc. This new tool gives engineers increased efficiency and easier data handling by eliminating model re-creation and allowing nonlinear simulation of native MSC.visualNastran for Windows models. This is especially important for industries manufacturing products that rely upon foam, rubber, plastics or any soft, highly deformable materials.
- Expert modeling package - In order to simplify the user experience, MSC.vN4W 2003 has consolidated its modeling packages into a single, expert modeling package which handles seamless integration with a wide variety of CAD systems including CATIA, IDEAS, Pro/E, Solid Edge and Unigraphics.
- Stress Wizard - Intended for new and occasional users, this new tool follows an easy, four-step process to get any engineer up and running a static/stress simulation in a matter of minutes.
