MSC.Software Announces New Release of SimDesigner for CATIA V5R14

New Version of CATIA-Embedded VPD Product Family Incorporates Enhanced Interoperability between SimDesigner Suspension and SimDesigner Linear

SANTA ANA, Calif. - August 24, 2005 - MSC.Software Corp. (OTC:  MNSC), the leading global provider of virtual product development (VPD) solutions including simulation software and services today announced the release of SimDesigner 2005 r3 for CATIA V5R14.  SimDesigner for CATIA V5 is a suite of CATIA V5-embedded simulation tools that allow CATIA users to streamline and automate the task of building and testing virtual prototypes by simulating motion, stress, fatigue, heat transfer and other physical performance attributes of components and systems.

"This release of SimDesigner is another step forward, especially as it relates to delivering market driven solutions," said Doug Peterson, vice president application software, MSC.Software.  "We have been working with key accounts to focus improvements on customer and market needs and this newest version has been developed specifically to address process improvements for our customers.  Our SimDesigner product line is an excellent growth opportunity for MSC as companies continue to adopt CAD-embedded VPD technologies both to realize greater benefits from simulation earlier in the design cycle and to use powerful simulation tools within a familiar environment.  We look forward to continuing to meet customer demand for the CAD-embedded market."

The SimDesigner product line allows components and systems to be tested before they are built, saving manufacturers time and money during the design, development, testing, and manufacturing process.  The SimDesigner for CATIA V5 product family currently includes integrated products, which embed simulation capabilities directly into the CATIA V5 environment, Gateway products, which provide smooth, direct access to VPD market leading tools such as MSC.Nastran, MSC.ADAMS, MSC.Marc, and LS-DYNA, and vertical applications, which address specific markets, such as suspension design for the automotive industry.

SimDesigner 2005 r3 has a number of features specifically designed to increase product development efficiency.  Some of these new features include:

  • SimDesigner Suspension (SDS) --- Automatic transfer of load histories provides design-engineers more realistic results by using more accurate boundary conditions based on actual simulation results.
  • SimDesigner Fatigue (SFA) --- Direct access to transient and load transfer results from SimDesigner Suspension. This seamless link to the suspension vertical application provides design-analysts the ability to perform fatigue or 'factor of safety' calculations.
  • SimDesigner Advanced Structures Professional (ASP) --- Supports additional MSC.Nastran entities preserving legacy data without any loss of data.
  • SimDesigner Linear (SDL) --- Extended support, improved usability and extensive user interface will help support company processes.  Many new options are available including the ability to import mesh data and/or results from MSC.Nastran xdb file.

Through the Gold Software Partner Agreement between Dassault Systemes and MSC.Software and the CAA V5 development architecture, the SimDesigner user interface is a seamless extension of CATIA V5.
