The Patran Materials provides a convenient environment for materials selection and a traceable electronic link between MSC Mvision materials databanks and Patran. The Patran Materials is specially designed to forge a link between analysis and materials specialists.
MSC Mvision is MSC’s materials database system. MSC Mvision databases can store materials information such as physical properties, processing parameters, usage notes, and test conditions. Patran Materials is designed to provide the analyst with access to materials properties defined and stored in MSC Mvision databases by materials specialists.
The Patran analyst can choose the material attributes of interest (i.e., name, strength, heat treatment, stiffness, etc.) and is presented with a list of available choices from the materials database. If selecting from this list identifies a unique material in the database, then the properties from the selected material are transferred to the Materials form. If the selection is not unique, the Materials Selector presents you with a list of all materials that match the selection criteria. Pick from this list to load the material properties of a single material into the Materials form.
